Just before Midnight, Sykesville Fire and Rescue Units along with Mutual Aid Units from Winfield, West Friendship, and Glenwood, responded to 12 Gaither Manor Drive in Sykesville for reported smoke inside an apartment.
Units arrived on scene and went to work trying to locate the source of the burning. Units found a burned up hot water heater in a second floor apartment. Crews checked for fire extension and secured the power to the hot water heater. The apartment was ventilated and all apparatus were placed in service.
