Shortly after 4pm on December 30th, Box alarm 13-3 was dispatched for a reported basement fire in the 3000 Blk of Sykesville Rd. First arriving engine 134 from Gamber advised they had smoke showing, requesting the working fire dispatch. Arriving moments later was Tower 12 and Engine 124. The engine crew quickly stretched a line to the front door to put a stop to the fire spreading to the first floor, while the tower crew went to the basement to assist engine 134's crew with extinguishing the fire and overhaul. The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes. Engine 123 and Rescue squad 12 were dispatched for the working fire dispatch. It was a great job by everyone on the fire ground.

The Office of the State Fire Marshall is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
