Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department volunteers and.Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS of Maryland career personnel responded with mutual aid crews Sunday afternoon on the house fire, 1600 block Heather Heights Drive in Eldersburg.

The fire, which was reported shortly after 1:00 p.m., was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes, but a compromised gas line to the house continued to burn in check for several hours until utility crews could locate and shut off the line.

One firefighter was transported as a precaution to the hospital for evaluation of a non life threatening condition.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
