Saturday October 12 was a busy day for the members of Sykesville. In the morning, 14 volunteers with Engine 124, Duty 12 and Utility 12 went to Winfield for an acquired structure training burn.

In addition to Sykesville and Winfield, units from Mount Airy, New Windsor and Lisbon attended the training. These burns provide invaluable training and allow members to practice fighting fire in as close to a real-world scenario as possible. Training with other companies allows helps foster better cooperation on actual incidents.

Sykesville members were split into two crews and practiced fire attack and hose line movement. Two other members acted as instructors to help ensure all crews got a great training experience.

At the end of the training the house was burned down for the property owners so they do not have to demolish it themselves.
Thank you very much to the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department for the invite and great day of training.

While our members were training other members stayed back to staff the station with the CCDFEMS staff. In the afternoon additional volunteers were at the station to assist with the Big Money Give away.
