Sykesville Crews Assist Gamber On Pouder Road House Fire

At approximately 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, Sykesville crews were alerted to assist Gamber & Community Fire Company on the house fire in the 1100 block of Pouder Road.

Chief 12-2 (Polikoff) arrived as Battalion Chief 3, assumed command and advised a fire in the back bedroom of a ranch-style home.

Gamber Engine 134 stretched an attack line to the rear of the house. Sykesville Engine 124 laid 1,200 feet of supply line from Poole Road to the scene while its crew assisted on the fire attack. The fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes.

Tower 12 arrived and its crew assumed overhaul operations to check for fire extension.

Sykesville’s medics 128 and 129 also responded to the scene.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.

Six Sykesville volunteers responded to the call along with Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS staff out of Station 12.
