Just after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, Sykesville's Engine 123 was alerted to transfer into Baltimore City to provide coverage as the Baltimore City Fire Department battled a large fire at the city's tree recycling plant in Woodberry.

A crew of two volunteers and two CCDFEMS career personnel transferred with the engine to BCFD's Station 46, where they covered several calls overnight, including medical assists and fire alarms.

Engine 123 was among a number of regional assets requested into the city for mutual aid assistance as the BCFD handled this large and unusual incident.

The engine and crew returned to Sykesville Friday morning at approximately 7:30 a.m.

At the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department, our members are trained and prepared to handle the unexpected, including assistance to our mutual aid partners. We were glad to be of assistance to the BCFD.
