Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, Sykesville units were alerted to assist Winfield on the reported house fire in the 5800 block of Woodbine Road.

Arriving units found three vehicles on fire in the driveway with fire extension into the garage. Crews immediately went to work on attacking the fire from the exterior as a water supply down the 1800' lane was established. Sykesville's Engine 124 laid out more than 1000 feet of large diameter supply hose as part of the water supply effort.

Engine 124's crew reported to the house and began to assist in fire attack and overhaul duties. Tower 12 arrived a short time later and joined in the effort.

In all, units from Carroll, Howard and Frederick counties responded to the scene and assisted in the fire suppression and overhaul efforts. There were no injuries and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.

Approximately 10 Sykesville volunteers responded on the call, along with on-duty Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS career staff out of Station 12.

We are always looking for volunteers to assist in our mission of serving and protecting the South Carroll area. If you'd like to learn more, or would like to fill out an application to join us, please click the link below.
