Approximately 20 Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department Volunteers responded along with Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS crews and mutual aid units to a large outbuilding fire in the 7300 block of Gaither Road, Thursday evening, 9/28/23.
The resident of the home discovered the fire burning and quickly called 911. Sykesville and mutual aid crews were dispatched at 8:39 p.m. Within a minute, Engines 123 & 124 and Tower 12 were on the road with full crews, along with both medic units.
Upon arrival, Chief 12-1 (Dennis) reported a 25' x 25' outbuilding fully involved. Arriving crews pulled attack lines and proceeded to attack the fire. The flames were knocked down in about 10 minutes, and the fire was declared under control a short time later.
There were no injuries, and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is conducting the investigation into the cause of the fire.
