Beheler, Ruch Presented Awards By Knights Of Columbus

Two members of the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department have been recognized for their outstanding service to the community.
EMS Captain Shannon Beheler and Director/Past Chief Ed Ruch, Sr. were among several community members honored by the Knights of Columbus Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Council #7512 during an awards dinner May 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Eldersburg.
Capt. Beheler has been a member of the SFDFD since 2002. She says, "I have always enjoyed helping people and giving back to my community. It gives me the potential to have a positive impact in someone's life."
Director Ruch has been in the fire service for 53 years, serving both as a volunteer and career firefighter. Born and raised in the Sykesville area, Ruch says simply of his service, "I was glad that I was able to help people in their time of need."
