The Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department is proud to announce the launch of a completely redesigned website, built for a visitor-friendly, efficient experience.
The website was created in 2004, and was last updated in 2011. The changes and updates to the site are long overdue, according to department officials, who approved the redesign process earlier this year.
The biggest change that visitors will notice is the redesign of the front page, updated to include the SFDFD's signature colors of lime yellow and black. A streamlined drop-down menu on the header of the page will allow visitors to easily find and navigate to their desired information, whether it be recruitment, fundraising or contact information.
Visitors will also find an updated comprehensive history of the department and new looks to pages including our junior department and fire prevention and life safety pages.

As a former Fire Chief (1992), EMS Captain (1986-1990), and a charter member of the Junior Division, I congratulate the SFDFD on your many years of exemplary service to the community. The revamped website.is looking pretty good. I have only read the History to this point, and look forward to digging deeper. Please continue to produce the vintage photographs and history, to allow your seniors to reminisce and teach, the youngers to understand and appreciate, and the youth to dream and plan.
The 1985 building was an excellent firehouse, many wonderful and memorable events were held in the hall. Perhaps a history and photo could be added to the history in the future?
On the Junior Division... many of the Charter members went on to become not only busy and ranking volunteers, but also career firefighters and/or paramedics and officers in surrounding career county departments. Much could be written on how successful the Juniors' have been, and how foundationally instrumental the Seniors of the time were as instructors and mentors to us. It was an amazing time, I truly appreciate the service from those Senior members, many of whom ssdly have moved on. I will always remember where I got my start.
